Poor Little FishDeep, deep in the ocean, FLASH! There he goes,
Bobbing, weaving, ducking, zigzagging through,
Schools of fish and so many sea flows,
Fins flapping, tail swerving, through the blue.
His black eyes wide at the sides of his head,
This poor fish better get home before five,
Since his old mother said he'll sure be dead,
If he's late to bring dinner's main piece, chive.
But the ocean's so huge! So hugely huge!
With those chives in fin, how fast could he go?
Down Shark street he had to glide like a luge,
Dreading what she would do if he were slow.
And there! He saw was his humble abode,
At point five to five, he stops and unloads.
Red Riding HoodI want to believe people so badly when they say they won’t bite
that I contemplate climbing into their smiling jaws
thinking that it might be better to be split in two than left hanging.
But always, I draw my red hood and flit back into the forest
running in the shadows of pathways, never stepping into clearings
because I’ve spent my whole life in the wilderness
and I still can’t tell the wolves from the woodsmen.
